  • Identify basic HVAC hand, power and diagnostic tools and their safe use
  • Communicate with customers professionally and document service work
  • Describe the program rules: conduct, safety, attendance and no side work

Month 1 lessons

  1. Welcome, Program Orientation & Trade Mindset. Understand how the program works, what is expected of you, and how to succeed in a workforce-training program.
  2. OSHA Safety, PPE & Job-Site Hazards. Recognize common HVAC job-site hazards and choose the right personal protective equipment (PPE).
  3. Basic HVAC Tools, Power Tools & Measurements. Identify the basic hand, power and diagnostic tools of the trade and how to handle them safely.
  4. Customer Communication & Service Documentation. Speak with customers professionally and document service work clearly and honestly.
  5. Month 1 Review & Readiness Check. Review safety, tools, communication and documentation, and get ready for the Month 1 exam.

How you finish Month 1

Each week has video lessons with notes and an assignment, and then a 10-question quiz. After that, the month ends with a 20-question exam. So score 80% or higher on every quiz and exam and finish your assignments. Then your instructor reviews the month and releases your Month 1 Certificate of Completion, and the next month opens.

This course is part of the full HVAC program, and you enroll in all six months at once on the tuition page. Safety always comes first: for example, OSHA explains its hazardous energy rule at 29 CFR 1910.147, and EPA explains refrigerant rules on its Section 608 page.
